Lo árabe en la literatura hispanoamericana: Sergio Macías, Benedicto Chuaqui y Jorge García Usta.

Abstract

Son muchos los autores latinoamericanos que se interesaban por lo árabe, entre los cuales tenemos al chileno Sergio Macías, el sirio- chileno Benedicto Chuaqui y el colombiano de origen sirio-libanés Jorge García Usta. En ellos hallamos una destacable presencia árabe. Por lo tanto, nuestro objetivo es estudiar el porqué del interés de cada cual por el linaje árabe y la repercusión que ha dejado esta colectividad en los tres. A propósito de los resultados realizados, notamos que: En cuanto a Macías, su venida a España le permitió conocer la civilización árabe reflejada en la Alhambra, El Generalife y la mezquita de Córdoba, igual que en sus poetas como Ibn Zaydún, y al-Mu´tamid, que tienen el exilio como punto común con Macías. Fascinado por aquella colectividad, cogió su pluma para referirse a ella siendo desconocida en Chile. También la cercanía de España de los países norteafricanos le incitó a visitarlos para conocer aquel mundo de cerca. Chuaqui cogió el barco para huir del yugo otomano y del fanatismo religioso entre los cristianos y los musulmanes, dirigiéndose hacia Chile como país de esperanza. Pero la realidad fue completamente contraria, con persecuciones diarias y racismo, que fueron las facetas cotidianas del joven chileno en la otra orilla. De esta forma, se sirvió de su pluma para defenderse y defender a los suyos a través de su novela Memorias de un emigrante. Por último, el poeta Jorge García Usta, de origen siro libanés, dedica un poemario entero que lleva como título El reino errante, poemas de migración y el mundo árabes a los árabes de Siria, Líbano y Palestina, a la que dedica sus lamentos, compartiendo su afinidad con la ciudad libanesa Schatila y viviendo los sufrimientos de los palestinos Many latin-american writers have shown interest for Arabic topics. Among them we can name Sergio Macías (Chile), Benedicto Chuaqui (Syrian-Chilean) and Jorge García Usta (Columbian with Syrian-Lebanese roots). Within their books a huge presence of the ‘Arabic theme’ can be found. Our focus is to analyze both the reasons of the interest on Arabic topics and the image of Arab society in their works. Through the study of their works and also of many secondary Literatures we can arrive to some conclusions: Macías knew the Arabic civilization in Spain, through Arabic monuments like the Alhambra and the Great Mosque of Córdoba, as well as some poets like Ibn Zaydun and al- Mu’tamid. Macías share with them the exile as a common topic. He became fascinated by all those people and started to write about them, even being almost unknown in Chile. In addition, Spain’s proximity with the Maghrib encouraged him to visit Arabic countries in order to increase his knowledge on them. As for Chuaqui, he embarked to go away of the Ottoman yoke and also of religious bigotry between Christians and Muslims. He went to Chile as an encouraging country. However, reality was quite the opposite as long as he found constantly racism and oppression. He used his pen to defend himself and his people though his novel Memorias de un emigrante. The poet Jorge García Usta, with Syrian-Lebanese roots, devotes a whole book of poems, El reino errante, poemas de migración y el mundo árabes, to Arab people in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. He complaints the fate of Palestine, shows his affinity with the Lebanese city of Schatila and also he share the suffering of Palestinian people.
