The research stems from a central problem: how do individuals balance their authentic local cultural identity with the construction of a virtual identity amidst the cultural diversity imposed by the digital age? The study seeks to understand the identity negotiation strategies adopted by users to reconcile local and globalized identities, as well as how local identity is digitally reproduced. The research adopted a digital ethnography approach, using participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and semiological content analysis. The results show that virtual identity is not a separate or "liquid" entity, but rather a "selective and concentrated presentation" of real identity, structured around four main intertwined dimensions: the national dimension, the professional dimension, the religious dimension, and the social dimension. The study also revealed complex negotiation strategies between the local and the global, including selective rejection, conscious adaptation, and cautious openness, confirming that digital space has not been a cultural colonial force dissolving particularities, but has become a new arena for rooted social action. Keywords: Virtual identity, social media, Facebook, digital anthropology, cultural globalization, Algerian society, digital ethnography.
