Personalization is considered one of the most significant processes experienced by the individual, as it leaves a profound impact on personality development, whereby the individual becomes personalized within the standards of the culture to which they belong. The issue of bodily maturation is raised as the foundation of conflict during adolescence, through the sense of sexual identity and its imposition as a constitutive and encoded system for classifying sex according to its specificity (male–female), as well as the acquisition of the sexual role, which reinforces the adolescent’s sexual identity as congruent with their bodily identity. In this study, we adopted the clinical method (case study and clinical interview) and applied the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) to a sample of adolescents consisting of eight (08) cases under the age of 19. The findings indicate that the process of personalization is a significant factor in the formation of sexual identity in adolescents. This stage is characterized by a reorganization of the internal structure of the ego and by narcissistic investment through the use of body image to affirm the self, under the influence of primary objects that nourish the narcissistic base and achieve narcissistic and emotional satisfaction. This process leads to self-acceptance and sexual adjustment through the acquisition of the sexual role as a central tool for strengthening sexual identity. This occurs under the influence of personalization during adolescence as a paradigmatic condition that enables the adolescent to resolve sexual ambivalence and to register within a heterosexual relational framework, thereby establishing a stable sexual identity upon which interaction is based. Keywords: Personalization – Sexual Identity – Adolescence.
