Von der Germanistik in die Fachübersetzung: Germanisten als Sprachmittler im Betrieb

Abstract

The present foreign language teaching is permanently gaining importance in the world of work; the use of foreign languages in the job is regarded as a motivation for foreign language learners to pursue a profession in the economic sector. Studying German is not only to become a German teacher, because job prospects for German students are not limited to the teaching profession, that why foreign language learning is a constant investment. Due to increasing international communication and relocation abroad, more and more companies require employees who speak foreign languages at work. For Algerian graduates, there is the opportunity to work with German language in such companies, because if we look at the German institutions in Algeria, we find that the German graduates can work in different subareas of these institutions, the presence of German companies in the Algerian economy enables graduates to have better and better career opportunities, including translation and interpreting. However, the readiness to be employed in a foreign company calls for a corresponding range of teachings, a linguistic knowledge without special and intercultural competences are inadequate for ability to act in any subject area. In this context, job-related foreign German teaching is of particular importance. In the present communication, I analyze a case study of German language graduates who work as an interpreter or Translator in the SNVI -Mercedes industry in Tiaret.
