The purpose of this article is to study Ousmane Sembene's work in its social dimension in order to detect an openly proletarian writing. This writing allows us to identify in this writer a commitment to a disadvantaged social class, a class that Sembene will endeavor to paint, to tell and sometimes even to sublimate throughout his artistic career: the proletariat. Proletarian writing, a term first used by Henry Poulaille, is one of the characteristics of Sembian writing and the manifestation of its commitment to proletarians. This author would be a writer of the people, who will denounce in a large part of his literary and cinematographic productions the working conditions. His ideology is directly drawn from the ideas of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.en_US
