Summary The goal of this research is to highlight the logic of note-taking activity in a university setting. Thus, we have tried to understand the different stages of a task that involves a transformation of an "x" speech, mainly oral, where the learner in a training situation at the university will have the task of converting and exploiting a oral content to a written production or coherent synthesis via different techniques of note-taking. To do this, we have proposed three contexts of different studies and analyze whose purpose is to design the different modes of operation deployed by students in a teaching / learning process in French as a foreign language. In addition, we propose a reading of a cognitive model involving the intellectual skills of memorization, selection, transformation and synthesis. Thus, the efficiency index would be based on various social, linguistic, intellectual and referential parameters that allow the learner, through skills acquired during an institutional continuum, to be able to make note-taking a reference tool in the construction of knowledge.
