.Abstract: Security cooperation occupies a central position in contemporary international relations, particularly in light of the rise of non-traditional security threats, foremost among them transnational terrorism and the spread of armed groups in fragile and insecure regions. Algerian–American relations have witnessed a notable development since the events of September 11, 2001, as the United States redefined its security priorities with Maghreb countries—especially Algeria, which has emerged as an important security partner given its experience in counterterrorism, its military capabilities, and Algeria’s pursuit of benefiting from the technological superiority of the United States in the field of defense. This study therefore seeks to highlight the security relationship between Algeria and the United States as a specific model of cooperation based on the achievement of mutual interests, without reaching the level of a strategic alliance. This cooperation has been reflected through the conclusion of security agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries, as well as intelligence cooperation and joint military exercises. However, this rapprochement has not led to a fundamental transformation in the nature of security cooperation; rather, it has stabilized within the framework of what is termed a “strategic partnership.” This is due to several factors that have prevented this security cooperation from evolving into a full-fledged alliance. Keywords: Security cooperation, security threats, international terrorism, counterterrorism, security coordination, strategic partnership.
